Recording Again Soon !

More Recordings Come soon, folks!  I am going back into the studio in the Spring to record some songs  with The Meadow Street Band. We will do some the favorites we play in our shows, as well as some of my original tunes. Songs that will be recorded this year include: -Some Christmas songs such as    "In A Humble Place" -"Say Yes"- A semi CC number I wrote a few years back -"Night Rider's Lament"- A Garth Brooks tune -"Love Is A Rose"- An MSB standard And my newer Pop Country tune "Let's Run Away". I have some other songs as well. I am planning to try and get my Christmas album vinyl release by Christmas 2019. Not sure, yet. If not, it will certainly be available by next year. It will be the continuation of "Christmas Joy"- with 12 Christmas songs for Yuletide Merriment and reflection!

Christmas Card From Meade Skelton

Any Dream Will Do..

This is a song from "Joseph and The Technicolor Dream Coat"

Covering another '80s Classic

Stylistically, this song is much different for me. I don't usually sing these types of songs, and this song has a much  different feel than "it might be you". It's pure Pop! I'm trying to expand my vocal and using different styles to feel more comfortable singing in different ways. Honestly, though, I don't really know how to be any other kind of singer than just "me". So I just sing it Meade style, I guess. So here's "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You", by Glenn Medeiros

Entertaining at the Old Folks Home

We put on a good show for the folks at St Mary's Woods Senior Living Facility. Some people managed to even get out of their chairs and dance! I was sweating something awful because it was so hot and humid outside . I was glad to be back singing for a crowd again. Singing in my bedroom and staring  at these four walls was enough to drive me plumb crazy. We were minus one band member who was out of town, but we managed to keep up a peppy performance, with lots of stories and catchy tunes for the audience. I was really bloated, but I still managed to hit those high notes and get my yodeling voice on. Everyone enjoyed hearing about my tribute to Roy Rogers. Fun was had by all!                                                    Some fans...

MeadeStream Coming Soon !

Very excited to announce that I will be doing live streaming on my vlog channel account. A little bit of music, a little bit of talk, and hopefully a good time for all! I probably will broadcast on Sunday nights. Before all this starts, I have to do some upgrades to my computer equipment (including a better lap top!) camera, etc. I have decent Internet connection, but I'm still not sure how that will go, since my wifi can get weak in my back studio bedroom. Since I don't feel well enough  to travel out as much, might as well do a show from home! I will have to test the waters and see how this all goes. I have wanted to livestream for quite a while now, but I have always been apprehensive. It seems to be easier if I had a tech person to run everything for me while I was just the host/performer. But until I get that to happen, I will be running things. I can't decide what format either. I can use streamlab, google, or simply  stream through youtube. They will be coming alon...

Throw Back Thursday

These promo pictures were taken at Clark's Barn near Richmond in December, 2001. This is when I was just starting out in the local music scene here.

Why I'm glad I'm not Famous....

I have seen the cost of fame in many people in the entertainment world. I find that it's not worth it.  As a non-famous person, I can live my life in solitude. I can go out in public and no one bothers me. No one  has to know who I am, where I am, or what I am doing.  I have freedom. I'm not bound by pressures of the outside world.   Years ago, I wanted fame badly. But only to prove myself to those that were mean to me in my schooling days. Those days are long gone, and many of my enemies then have long forgotten me already. Even if I became a "Star", many of them would either not know, or not care. Most people are  too consumed with the goings on of their own lives and too busy to notice or keep track of how others did in their graduating class , especially after 20 years or more have passed. The expression "What price glory?" often refers to what people give up when they pursue fame. If they make it, they find out it's not what they thought it would ...

Meade Skelton Christmas Special is Here !

Howdy Folks! My Christmas special for You Tube is now here. I  hope it may touch in some special way, and I hope you enjoy watching it. It was a lot of fun putting this small piece together. Grab some egg nog!

Working on Christmas Special...

Hello! Christmas is a month away, but I am already working on a Christmas special for youtube. It will be called "The Meade Skelton Christmas Special". I think that has a nice ring to it, don't you? I will be doing several Christmas songs in the show and be keeping it more about the real meaning and spirit of Christmas. I believe people need some uplifting entertainment in these our troubled times. This Christmas, I plan to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, regardless of political affiliation! I have a few gigs lined up in December, but mainly I am taking a break to catch up on other projects before the end of the year. This year has certainly been fairly good to me. I got a new job at the Chick-fil-A as the Cow Mascot, which I have done before. It doesn't pay much, but at least its an acting gig! I can call it creative promotions. I like to do all kinds of things at Christmas, so I'll be right busy. Look for my Christmas show on Youtube in a few weeks time.

This is My Country !

A song more associated with the 4th of July, but I think a lot of these Patriotic songs are fitting for Thanksgiving. I am very proud and thankful to be an American. A REAL American !

Avoiding Genre Bashing....

Many musicians get tempted to belittle their competition. I think its a poor choice professionally , to go and talk trash about other genres or other bands and  musicians. This goes for people who work in sound as well. I remember not too long ago, I found a Tumblr blog by a local sound technician at a popular music venue here in town. He said his least favorite part about his job was  "having to work Country shows".  My reaction was, buddy, maybe you're in the wrong business? If you're that petty about a certain genre that you find it difficult to run sound, maybe you shouldn't be running sound at all! I know there are a lot of heated discussions on music and musical taste. Its highly subjective in many ways.  We need to come to some sort of middle ground, where musicians can at least respect what we do, regardless of how off putting their style of music may be to them. I got pretty offended by the sound guy's statements regarding Country music. But isn't...

Throw Back Thursday: Nashville Trip 2012

For "Throw back" Thursday , I want to discuss the most spectacular trip I ever had to Nashville.  In July of 2012, I went to Nashville , this time with the Meadow Street band.  I had been to Nashville three times before this occasion , but going with the band made it more exciting and official. We had a heap of fun!  We made a stop in  Johnson City , TN along the way to perform at Acoustic Coffeehouse. Then we drove through the night to arrive at our stay at the Opryland Hotel and convention Center. We got to take a tour of the famous Studio B, and got to record a few tunes there. I got to play the famous Steinway piano (the same piano that was touched by Elvis , Floyd Cramer, Jerry Lee Lewis, and many other legends!). We sang at the Nashville Convention Center, had free tickets to the Grand 'ol opry, and got to sing a little accapella at the Ryman Auditorium. I'm including some pictures of that wonderful trip. I have been to Nashville by myself a few times, but this...

Cousin Wayne Newton !

Yes, I am kinfolk with Wayne Newton! Well, we are pretty distant cousins- something like 7th , once removed. But we have the same  lineage. We both trace back to the same Indian  tribe , and the Newton line from Virginia. Wayne is also a member of the Patawomeck Indian tribe, and Cherokee. It is through the Patawomeck Indians we're connected! Its funny, but in his earlier days, I noticed a slight resemblance. My Dad used to say "Hey, he looks a lot like you!"  Especially in his appearance  on the "Lucy Show". Although Wayne is a bit taller than I am (he stands 6'2, and I'm a mere 5'10 and 1/2) I often wondered if K.D. Lang copied his style in those early days. Wayne puts on a great Vegas show- and anyone who questions his talent is quite ignorant. Not only can he sing, he is a multi instrumentalist. Wayne was born in Roanoke, and grew up in Norfolk. Since Wayne suffered from allergies, his family moved him from the heat and humidity of Virgin...

A Song For The Monkees

Please help me get this song out to Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz, or Michael Nesmith to record on their next album. Anyone out there know of anyone with connections? Greatly appreciated! I have another version as well. It has that '60s feel and I just have a hunch they would like it. Please get it out to them! Thanks.
