Fredericksburg Gallery

This past weekend was right busy! Friday, July 1st, I performed at the Fredericksburg Center For The Creative  Arts Gallery on Sophia Street. Since there was limited space, and a storm was brewing, I had to perform inside the entry room.  I had to sing as softly as possible, but Bessie and I were able to give a fairly good sample of our best known hits including "Sweet Tea" and "Clean Livin". The atmosphere was inspiring, and the many talented artists who's work filled the spaces of the gallery were appreciative! The acoustics were marvelous and I certainly didn't need any microphone.  I had to stay overnight at the Hyatt Place near Mary Washington College  and went to the George Rowe Family Reunion the following day. It was a very uplifting experience. Many people were there, and discussed was the illustrious  history of the Rowe family in the city of Fredericksburg and its environs, as well as ancestral connections to the Patawomeck  Indian Tribe of Virginia. The event took place at the historical home of George and Lucy Rowe. There was also a visit to beautiful Santee Farm in nearby Corbin. I looked around for Carl's ice cream too, but forget where it was! But by the late afternoon , I was awfully worn out.  So I headed back to Richmond and took a long needed nap. I was happy to perform in Fredericksburg again and see relatives and hear stories.

Sunday, I performed at the Urban Farmhouse Market and Cafe in Richmond.  One of their many new locations. This one was in Scott's Addition. It was a very wonderful time there as well. My good friends Lance and Christina showed up. Lance Koheler runs Minimum Wage Studios, where I have done several of my records. He is a great drummer and performs in The NO BS Brass band. I enjoyed the large space in the coffee shop. I did some Gospel tunes as well, but when someone requested "Lady Gaga" I had a feeling it wasn't to their liking. Still, most people stayed and they didn't seem to be in any kind physical distress from the music I was performing. I have had several of my songs reviewed on Reverb Nation through their "Crowd Review" program. Overall, "Sweet Tea" has the highest customer  satisfaction rating. With a score of 7.2 out of ten. Most all reviews on that song were in the positive. Other tunes did not fair as well, (they were somewhere just above 6.5) but I am not surprised. Sweet Tea may be my only bread and butter at this point. The only fairly commercial song I have ever written.  If someone well known can record it, and modernized it a bit or Pop it up, I may have a huge hit on my hands. Because I feel the lyrics are timeless. And that is that!
